Reef Heazlewood is certainly making a name for himself on the world stage. The Moffat Beach, Caloundra local placed ninth at the WSL Rip Curl Pro Narrabeen, in April 2021. Well known for his astonishing aerial manoeuvres, Reef soon became a public interest within the global surf community when he placed second in the world, a few years ago, at a professional aerial surf competition.
“Caloundra is known for its smaller ‘high performance’ waves, so it’s very cool seeing one of our humble locals dominate on tour alongside other men, that have the privileges of larger surf.” Said Russell Hoffman, head coach from North Caloundra Surf School. “We can’t wait to see the rest of Reefs professional journey, starting up next at the Margret River Pro on May 2nd.” “We are very grateful for the positive influence he is having on our next generation of local surfers.” says Russell Hoffman.
Reef has also been working alongside us, helping the primary and high school out with the ‘Baringa Boardriders’ lessons.
