NCSS was the first surf school established in Caloundra by Russell Hoffman. When it comes to operating a safe, fun surf school and understanding the local beach conditions, nobody else has more experience. Every year we facilitate surfing lessons for approximately 9000+ participants, with some students doing lessons on a weekly basis. NCSS holds four council permitted BEACHES on the Sunshine Coast: King’s Beach, Dicky Beach, Happy Valley and Currimundi all within a short distance of each other. Relying on the surf and weather conditions, this ensures our students always have the best and safest learn to surf waves available in Caloundra.

As a student, to succeed: I must always try to keep a positive attitude towards learning, even if I am met with challenging surf conditions. I am doing this for myself, and because I am truly passionate and curious about surfing. I will try to hold a realistic expectation for myself and not be disappointed when I don’t immediately achieve. I am willing to listen and receive advice by experienced professionals, who may also be a lot younger than I am. I understand that 95% of surfing is surf awareness, board handling and paddling, while only 5% is standing on a wave.
I understand that to learn I must always try my best first, before expecting a coach to do the work for me. I understand that coaches may be bold at times, but it’s with the intentions to keep me safe and assured, while in a potential high risk environment. If I am feeling odd about something, I make sure I always communicate it with my coach.
